The past two years have been marked with an unprecedented amount of startup funding for African startups.

The expanding startup ecosystem has put Africa on the spotlight as one of the future tech superpowers — an event that I cannot disconnect from the massive work of pioneering players that have made this vision possible.

Co-Creation Hub is one of them. Fostering innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship in the African continent for more than 10 years.

Founded in Lagos, Nigeria, by Bosun Tijani and Femi Longe in October 2010 and launched in September 2011, CcHUB is a tech-oriented centre and pre-incubation space with operations in Lagos and Abuja, both in Nigeria, Kigali in Rwanda and Nairobi in Kenya.

A place for technologists, social entrepreneurs, government entities, tech companies and impact investors, CcHUB brings the knowledge, perspectives and insights of various stakeholders to co-create solutions to different sets of social challenges faced by Africans.

The hub’s impact goes beyond the borders mentioned before. CcHUB is also involved in different programs and organizations across the entire continent, leveraging on its arsenal of highly prestigious partners such as Google, Melinda & Gates Foundation, Amazon, Airbus, BBC, Microsoft, Visa, The Tony Elumelu Foundation and Facebook to realize its goals.

Focus Areas

Startup Funding

As CcHUB supported startups through the ideation, pre-incubation and incubation stages, opportunities emerged to continue supporting them as they undergo the different stages of maturity and Growth Capital was launched.

Growth Capital now deploys catalytic capital and advisory services to high growth companies in Nigeria.

Innovation Support

The experience, talent and amount of impacted startups over the years gives CcHUB a unique edge on ways to identify commercial or social innovation opportunities, which have been used to support organizations on their journey towards sustainability.

Design for Health

The health sector is amongst the hub’s priority sectors. Through a human-centred driven approach, the hub develops healthcare solutions and interventions to increase the health sector adaptability to the complex healthcare system in Nigeria.

Governance and Digital Security

CcHUB has launched GovLab as a primary interface for government agencies, civil society and social innovators looking to improve the way citizens’ needs are met in Nigeria using technology.

Education

The hub’s efforts in education are based around three main pillars: a) curriculum-guided content creation, digital labs and training educators, with the goal of improving the quality of and access to education in Nigeria.

iHub

Equally influential, iHub is an innovation hub and coworking space founded in Nairobi, acquired by CcHub for an undisclosed amount back in 2019 with the aim of creating a mega Africa incubator.

Design Lab

CcHUB’s research and development lab innovating for social impact.

The lab aims to collaborate with global stakeholders to explore the application of technology to solve Africa’s systemic problems in Public Health, Education, Governance and the Private Sector.
