Keeping up to a demanding and high-pressure career requires being conscious about our habits, and having some quality time when unplugged from our duties.

Amongst my top go-to entertainment activities is definitely Youtube and one of the most common questions I get from those around me is: what do you spend so much time watching on Youtube?

Under my personal account, I am subscribed to a ton of channels and from all possible genres and spheres of the globe. In this particular article, I will highlight at least one African channel from my top 5 categories: business, personal finance, technology, travelling and vlogs.

Business

Vusi Thembekwayo

By far one of my greatest business influences in Africa, Vusi is a South African multi award-winning businessman, investor, author and global speaker. Synonymous with being a business maverick, by the age of 25 he ran a R400m division of a R17bn multinational and today is widely regarded as one of the most disruptive forces in venture capital in Africa. Vusi was also one of the youngest directors of a listed company in South Africa.

His content is pretty diverse, containing: masterclasses, interviews, podcasts and keynotes all around entrepreneurship, purpose and finance.

Personal Finance

Tisa Ntlawini

Tisa is a South African Youtuber who uses her channel to share her financial journey and share content on ways to save money and invest. Her focus is primarily on ETFs (if you do not know what it means, it might be worth subscribing right away).

She studied Psychology at the University of Johannesburg and later found a unique opportunity to work on what she is deeply passionate about — education. This took her to China, where she has been living over the past three years.

Technology

Fisayo Fosudo

A prolific visual storyteller, finance and technology video producer, Fisayo is a Nigerian Influencer with an audience of over 400,000 followers across social media and over 20 million video views from making unique weekly technology & finance videos for the African space and globally for over 4 years.

He is an Ambassador for Musicbed one of the largest music licensing companies for video creators/producers. He is one of the 26 Africans featured on the 2022 YouTube Black Voices Class. He has been featured on YNaija’s Establishment List of Top 50 Nigerians to look out for 4 years consecutively, BellaNaija’s Top 10 List of Video Creators on YouTube, Channels TV and many more.

Travel & Lifestyle

Tayo Aina

I love the African continent and one of my life goals is to discover as many places as possible in my lifetime. I use Tayo’s videos to get to know a little more about the different cultures and sights around the continent and prioritise future trips.

He is an independent Youtuber, Filmmaker, and Storyteller creating lifestyle, Travel, Business and Real Estate content that showcase the beauty of Africa and share the stories of African businesses and brands. Tayo has over 400 videos and has travelled across 12+ countries.

Vlogs

Berthold Ackon (Wodemaya)

Surely one of the most followed Youtubers in the continent, Wode Maya is a Ghanaian Vlogger on a mission to change the negative narrative of Africa by promoting all 55 African countries on the continent by showcasing their culture, lifestyles and sharing myriads of success stories and his own entrepreneurial endeavours.

Encouraged by my partner, in addition to the articles, I will be launching my own channel soon as a way to continue sharing my journey and interests with everyone that extracts value from it. Give me a little push by subscribing here.
